Lost the touch. ?

Silberfuchs; I am not going to disagree with what you have just said but I would like to remind you of two recent appauling go arounds. The first a BA B747 400 that took itself around when the F/o selected the Toga/Ga button instead of the A/ts off button. Both pilots were taken by surprize and could not understand why the thrust levers were going forward and the nose was pitching up. The Captain got the message when the stick shaker went off at around 28 degrees nose up. What price scaning. ?? The second case is the recent Cx affair which I'd rather not think about much less discuss. Again, what price scaning. ?? Yes it's all changed and while I will conceded you possible run a good ship the fact remains that you are no longer as good a pilot as you could be.Can you still scan in sequence,? can you hold a rock steady heading on the ILS to 200 ft.? Can you stay on the glide slope with the airspeed steady and the sink rate stable. ? Can you assess heading change when drift creeps in AND can you do all these things at the same time and land with your palms dry. You gave me the modern operation and I' just given you the old one. Regards; 828a.
