DD, depends on how you measure health.

Just had a patient in, chronic chest complaint, breathless, heart disease, smokes 20 a day, but can still manage to get to the local to meet his mates for happy hour. I asked him if he has any worries about his health, he say's not. He considers himself quite healthy.

I have a regular who eats the "right stuff" , exercises the prescribed 3 times a week, doesn't smoke/drink. Great blood pressure, normal BMI. Her sister and mum both died of breast cancer. She doesn't sleep very well, and cries all the time, as her husband has left her.

Got another guy, paralysed from the waist down, top wheelchair basket ball player. Drinks a bit too much, but lives life to the full. (His words not mine.)

Which one is the healthiest ?

(Answers on a postcard to "CAA Medical division, Gatwick Airport.")
