spannersatcx is right - you need to be careful before changing the firmware as it will invalidate your warranty
I have a law degree and have ended up taking Orange to the Small Claims Court because they do not seem to realise that their policy of not being able to return an upgrade is worthless if the phone does not meet the standards set out in various consumer protection legislation.....anyway......
I have got another k700i which I upgraded using

www.faceoffmobiles.co.uk - you will need a T28 cable and a serial port to plug it into. If you follow the instructions carefully it works really well and resolves all the issues including the 3s delay which is seriously annoying.
You could try something else first - the SE site can upgrade your firmware if you have a dss-20/dss-25 docking station (you can get them cheaply from ebay) and have a go at upgrading though their update site, although as I said earlier some operators have barred this but it may be lifted soon. I dont think this would harm your warranty
