OOOOOH, I am shuddering at the thought of MEL-DPS-MEL ruturns. I've done it in the past and you are quite often physically sick, delerious and seriously considering whether or not this is ths job for you once you have done a few Bali returns. It's certainly not the flying I or anyone would ever wish upon anyone. Before you call me lazy, let me tell you that a 14-16hr duty is fine normally but when it comes to Bali it's a different story. These are arduous trips with arduous pax. We do a Bali now and cant wait to get off the plane, imagine turning around and doing it all again!! We used to do it at Ansett and it's not nice. 6 hours there and 6 hours back with minimum turnaround, yuk! But it's in the award and I think it just scrapes through.
That said, the EBA hasn't been decided yet and if this pattern is approved I dont want to hear a word of complaint from those that didn't support the union in negotiations.
