Another thing that annoys me intensely about LGW is that they have numerous fligfhts every day in summer which depart before 0600. That means an 0400 check-in time. But when you get through to the departure lounge are all the shops open? No way. Why not? If there arte passengers around the facilities to entertain/delight/occupy them ought to be avialable. But they are not in the early morning. It is as if the retail management have no idea of the opening hours of the airport.

Couldn't agree more. Same thing even applies at T1 at LHR on early morning departures. Even much maligned LTN's airside shops/coffee shops are usually open for the first checked in passengers
