I use LGW at least once a month. I have a Monarch Vantage card which enables me to queue jump on their flights, excellent facility. This morning I took a relative to the south terminal for a flight to America. After the boarding pass check it took him 40 minutes to go through security. 6 of the machines were not in use. I say to LGW concentrate on the priorities like queueng standards and stop wasting time on traffic hazards like that absurd arch.
Another thing that annoys me intensely about LGW is that they have numerous fligfhts every day in summer which depart before 0600. That means an 0400 check-in time. But when you get through to the departure lounge are all the shops open? No way. Why not? If there arte passengers around the facilities to entertain/delight/occupy them ought to be avialable. But they are not in the early morning. It is as if the retail management have no idea of the opening hours of the airport.
Tomorrow I have an early flight out of the north terminal. It will be the first time that I have been at that terminal in the early morning for a year or so. I will look with interest to see exactly what is open at 0430. I am sure that I will be disappointed.
