EK FTL scheme

No airline is perfect, but... Jesus Christ! "You know who" has to go... I can't believe I work for an airline which now cuts off the duty day "on chocks" on the final sector. This "limitation" or rather lack of one, comes right after the EK definition of "duty" - defined as: "...period during which a crew member is required to carry out any task associated with the business of the company"... but the FDP, flying duty period, is a separate definition! ...so we set the brake, and the clock stops whilst we finish shutting down, checklists, paperwork, debrief engineering on snags etcetera, and then wait for our ride to our briefing center. This is bull!!!!. Time spent doing company business is duty. If I am in the seat, and the aircraft is still signed out in my name, then I am responsible for the aircraft and its occupants. That is flight duty. PERIOD. But I guess this is what can happen when the airline and the local CAA are one in the same... !!!!.

I have noticed that since the Jo'berg incident in April that things have gotten quiet on the forum, and around the water cooler at work. Not much meaningful being posted on the forum... This airline has created a climate of fear. No one dares speak, for fear of retribution. Punishment is meted out in a primitive reactive fashion by self serving, pencil-spined, chair polishing wimps. Truth? Transparency? Professional integrity? Stand up for what's right? Not here, we have an inversion of quality management - it's who says they are right, not "what's right" which counts. Words and communication have become dangerous. So, no one is speaking up for the pilots on the issue of flight duty periods. Not even ourselves. Middle management are marshmellows - they don't transmit anything up or down the chain, they just absorb... little event horizons of their own, little black holes swallowing up the light of integrity and ethical behaviour... a bunch of experts in self preservation. This is one of the most shameful professional environments I have ever been in. Further, there hasn't been a roster presented in a timely fashion in the last 4 months. This month the Airbus guys didn't get their rosters till the 27th of July... this is !!!!. "Thank you for your support" Yeh folks, come to Emirates and "keep on discovering..." what a lousy level of care you'll get. Wanabees - stay the hell away!
