An ordinary Turkish Citizen
lomopaseo
This gent may consider himself to be an ordinary Turkish citizen but I asure you that he's not. Even I had heard of him. His problem, as with many of the old school of Turkish intellectuals and intelligentsia, is that he's now on the outer and there have been quiet pogroms and purges of his ilk from public office and high government posts.
When the whackos take over, that's what tends to happen. All the people who can make (and have been making) a difference are suddenly on the outer and without a voice.
It must be terrible to have to then sit back and watch how the rewards of a usurped democratic process ravage a hitherto progressive country. It is a creeping tide. We shall all wake up to a different world someday and wonder just how we let it happen. By that time it will be too late. It's the post 911 syndrome of never ever being able to come to grips with how something like that can happen. You're adequately distracted by the terrorists and falling over one another to make sure nobody can accuse you of racial or religious bigotry or prejudice and under that camo cover they are stealing a night march.
