Has someone thought of asking QF,
VB J* if THEY would be happy paying $41 / tonne landing charges? I bet they WONT! They would be banging on the ministers door on the middle of the night!
200 tonne aircraft x $41 = $8200 each and every sector! x how many sectors each aircraft each day etc.
I have no idea of actual landing weights of each aircraft type but it would be at least a factor of 10+ above any single or twin operating in GA.
The fact that the airlines will not wear this cost must be why they will only be charged about $3 / tonne (so I have been told).
Not much of a level playing field eh?
Before someone tells me, I realise $41/t is location specific to YPJT only, but other airports will have even higher charges, I used $41 as an example only. There is no way Airservices would dare charge QF et al at Sydney anything like this as I said above.
