Help in finding an old book.

The book was called (I think) 'Ready for takeoff' and was one mans account of gaining his PPL.

I remember picking this book up in the library purely by chance (it was in the wrong section) and sitting down and reading it. Soon after the uni assignment was forgotten and I took the book home to read. I finished it the following day and from that moment I decided that flying was for me and I would do my PPL.

I have looked everywhere for this book but to no avail. Surely another pruner has knowledge of it?

I can't remember the authors name but he was a journalist. His instructor I believe was former RAF wing commander Jock Dalgleish. I can't remember where he flew from either but I'm pretty sure he did fly over the Humber and out by the Wash.
