Tiger Moths Tangle at Torquay
On Anzac Day about half an hour before first light two Tiger Moths and an Ag Cat or third Tiger tangled during a formation take-off.
The show must go on however and three aircraft proceeded to Point Danger to overfly the awaiting crowd. As the cloud base was only 300' it was still very dark at first light. All the crowd saw was three sets of exhausts wheeling around low overhead.
After landing back at Torquay damage was assessed at around $100,000 and the insurance company promptly told to cough up.
The operator forgot to mention the incident to CASA however as the chief pilot had left weeks before and a new one had not yet been approved. We await, with interest, further developments.
Anyone else heard anything?
