I've seen far better pilots than moi reduced to tears and chuck it in because they took it all a little too personally. I guess 20 + years in military toughened me up a bit and if I noticed a little extra heat from RH seat I used to just chuckle and say to myself "ok sir, no prob, your train set"
One thing is for sure though, love or hate the place everyone seems to agree that if you come out of there with a rating you know you've earned the damn thing.
