Hmmmm. Much as I'd like it to be true I can't see them offering a £200k redundancy package. Now it could be argued that in the long run it would save money... lets say, for example, that a fg off or flt lt has 10 years left on a PC at around about 30 grand a year. Well that adds up to way more than 200k esp when you add in flying pay, pension costs, poss promotion, accommodation and all the rest of it. HOWEVER, as someone rightly pointed out yesterday or the day before - "they have you by the short and curlies". Anyway, such a redundancy package would suggest that the RAF is able to plan ahead in the long term which, as the current predicament seems to show, must be a fallacy!!
As far as a pay off is concerned it just might boil down to this - Does the RAF give enough of a toss about you to soften the blow of screwing up your lifelong dream?
Am I just a cynical t**t?
Actually perhaps its best for no-one to answer that....
