That rumor is v true. I was present in the office of DD at Linton on Monday and witnessed the call to JW at innsworth. A Wg Cdr is coming to brief all people holding pre valley along with all studes + QFI's @ LOO. As for a time, I have no idea.

For anyone who is interested, book a room in the mess and we will do ICON en masse on Monday evening.

See you all there

Thanks FG (or is it LG?)

Have heard a whisper that the "solutions" mentioned by F97 are restreaming for maybe 25% of those attending. Don't know if it will be volunteers or pressed men but I expect that there will be a stick and no carrot.

Beadwindow--a term used to alert the ignorant to that which would otherwise go un-noticed.

Was that a 01 or a 05?

Unhappy the 'truth' about the Linton meet

Gentlemen... Stanby for the latest trumour from Linton... Fresh from the hallowed halls of 207(R), confirmed from Innsworth:

The meeting is on Tues 6 April is am. Straight after normal met.

The meeting on Tues will apparently ask you to state your role disposal pref. 1 - 3.

All mates, even those having finished their refreshers with Valley dates are to attend.

The banter is (from 2 seperate sources) that up to 50% of the 42 strong holding pool maybe be restreamed.. (that includes 204course).

I also heard it's a fight to the death between you and a mate... no weight handicaps, so Flash should be ok!

Apparently the restream option is all still a possibility however, all the 5000's have been called in and a summary report of 'performance so far' has been written.... the final decision will be made on Weds.

Cheers.

See you on Tues... Happy/Sad hour afterwards?

Ed will be dead u cheeky git!! Not too sure about the proposed timing of the meeting though. I spoke to JW @ INS on 2 seperate occasions today and on both he confirmed that it was scheduled for 1300 LOCAL. How true is the truemormill??
I can believe the report on progress thus far, it makes sense really as much as I would wish it not to be happening.
Changing times ahead I feel. At least any flying job is a good job!!

See you there

What's all this talk about beadwindows?

As far as this string is concerned, I have heard on reasonable authority that shawbury and cranditz have no room for a load of re-streamed FJ studes.

Is the plan at the Linton meeting on tues. to ask for volunteers or are they just going to give everyone a fait accompli?

If they have reviewed everyones files and are making a decision on performance so far then why not just write and tell people, instead of dragging us across the country.

If they want volunteers, how are they going to sweeten the pill. This is the military; I thought they'd just tell us the score and to deal with it.

Cool

Latest, rumour, hot from General Melchets cleaner is that a large number of those attending will be re-streamed to Multis or RW. At about the same time a similar number of the retards at Shawbury and Cranwell will also be re-streamed, to make room for those who worked harder to get to Linton in the first place. I understand that there are a lot af vacancies in SHQ.

Are 'post EFT' and the 'lower end of Shawbury' getting chopped?

I.e those who are at IOT who have completed EFT, those who are holding for shawbury and those who are failing shawbury?

Does this mean the system will be "back to normal"?

Can anyone shed any light on what EFT studs now have to do to get a seat at Linton? I hear the number of linton seats per month has been cut to 6 from 8.....?

Latest rumour . . .. . . . . .. . .

Approximately 2 dozen pilot pre AFT to go. Options include

1) MEXO at Cranwell or Full Shawbury course.

2) Restreaming to ground branch with 18 mths seniority.

3) Option to leave with redundancy package (approx 200K).

Volunteers will be asked for in the first instance.

This should sort out the problem short term till new measures are introduced.

Could be worse . . . . . . . . ..

F97,

As far as course sizes at linton go, 6 is going to be the norm until further notice. I only went through last year and I was on a cse of 15!
If I were an EFT stude I would simply get my head down and fly my a55 off and, hard as it may seem, try not to get caught up in anything else going on above my payscale. If you are good enough to get to linton, Im sure you will go, as will any other EFT stude that passes EFT well.

Mach the knife, you are either someone looking for an extreme reaction and/or sitting fat dumb and happy in a nice job somewhere. What goes around comes around. Say no more.

Gentlemen,

I realise you are all concentrating on fighting your way through the training system, but you need to lift your heads and look at the bigger picture to appreciate the situation you are moving into.

There is a strong rumour that the details of the latest round of defence cuts, sorry I mean Defence Review of course, will be announced on the day before parliament breaks for the summer - 21st July I think. Always a good day to bury bad news!! Anyway, the buzz on the streets is that the Jag force will go, as will some other fast jet Sqns and even some multis. This will mean some fully trained, fully qualified FJ pilots (who represent no training risk to the system) will be looking for cockpits to fill! No doubt the Air Force Board are already aware of most of the details!

Against this probable background (which I admit has yet to be confirmed) it is highly likely that the RAF will review the number of pilots going through the training system, both now and in the near future, with an outlook that is inevitably likely to be unfavourable to some individuals!

That is the situation you are likely to find yourself in, just a case of bad timing for you I am afraid. Best of luck to all of you - don't let the bast*#ds get you down!!
