The pilot in question does have a couple of sorties in a Harrier, and also flew the Hawk during training. Whether that qualifies him as a fighter pilot is subject to opinion, as he was more of a heli pilot by trade, with only about 200 odd hours under his belt.
And in terms of heli pilots, there are a few cadets who have that distinction.
