As has been previously mentioned on the board, MyTravelLite is planned to be wound up at the end of the summer season 2004, with the aircraft being sent back to MyTravel Airways flying for the charter programme, although perhaps like Monarch operating one or two regular scheduled flights ex-BHX/MAN/LGW.
The idea is that MyTravelLite will simply become a brand like Thomsonflights.co.uk, where passengers simply purchase a ticket like they would a no-frills airline for a charter flight to a vacation destination. Schedules will become more flexible, and prices reduced to become more competitive to the likes of Ryanair and EasyJet.
There is some talk doing the rounds with my former colleagues over at MyTravel, that now Ryanair will be competing at a distance out of NEMA, MyTravelLite will be able to go back to their original plan from Summer 2002, which was to create a low-fares airline for the West Midlands at BHX.
Whether this will come to fruition and the 4 320s will become permanently MyLite plus extra planes, I don't know. It would be shame to see MyLite go bust, because they were probably one of the most competitive carriers in the Midlands in terms of fares. They used to have some good schedules for the BVA/AMS/BFS/DUB, perhaps if they kept good schedules, with good service and the nice mix of leisure routes - the airline might have a second chance.
