My money is on the ATR42/72. Brasilias are already flying for DHL, courtesy of Swiftair. Stupid little aeroplane that is. While the Saab might be a contender, given the larger fuselage, that one too is just not big enough for meaningful freight usage.
What we really need is a modern turboprop, capable of loading 4 to 5 P2 size ULDs. Problem is, that aircraft only exist in our dreams.

I do belive you are right, with the added fact that locals will usually only apply after being turned down by Gulf, Emirates, Etihad etc.
