They used AAPA for accommodation for Rex crew. Plus used the training rooms for ground courses (Pilot and FA), EP courses, simulator training. All the initial new joiner training was done there. Recurrent sims depended on base, I was in Cairns so it was easier to use the Melbourne sim, never went back to AAPA after the endorsement.
There was two buildings for “AAPA”. The cadet flight training was across the airport. The large “main” area was used for cadet accommodation plus all the Rex training listed above.
