The Captain issue here is endemic. Adding a dozen aircraft back in and growing the regional network is simply a fantasy.
Finding Captains is one thing, but they have the added issue around trying to retain them. The first question in any interview to any applicant would be how long until you quit. Back in the day it was we own you. Boy the tables have turned.
And the response is give me a package that encourages me to stay. If they can't afford that then their business model doesn't work.
Realistically Regional Airlines these days are just experience building jobs. Experienced candidates don't really exist anymore and there is no pipe line for DE Commands so their only hope is to get the cadet program back to where it was, that is the only viable way of maintaining staffing levels.
