Not sure where you get the idea freighters are lighter? Freighter aircraft are never any lighter than passenger variants because by their very nature they have to have beefed up structure in both the floor area to take the extra weight and have cargo doors, which again adds to weight.

With regard to adding ever more passengers, such as the many news articles that 'standing seats' or 'double decker seats' are imminently going to be introduced, it's all utter tosh. Designers often come up with these type designs but forget one important factor regarding squeezing as many people into an aircraft, if you cannot evacuate the maximum number of passengers in the required [relatively short] time-frame required for certification, it's never going to happen...while you could add even more emergency exits to an aircraft, that is self defeating as you then require more crew and also more space around emergency exits.
As I said designers will trot out designs but how many of them actually go into production?....Anyway, why are we discussing windowless planes and cramming ever more people on aircraft, as by now shouldn't we all be in flying cars
