Yes, they (SNAS) are still operating the Metro and Convair in DHL colours, serving points in Saudi among other destinations. Haven't a clue how difficult it is to get in, but they've got plenty of Kiwi, Canuck, Pom, Yank etc expats flying the rhino's.
Totally unsubstantiated, and probably crew-room originating, rumours have it that SNAS will take some of the EAT 727s over to the Bahraini register and boost the ME network considerably.
It is a fact that DHL will codeshare a daily MD11 flight to BAH (and onward to HKG if memory serves me right) and it therefore sounds plausible that bigger aircraft could be needed for intra-ME distribution; the job looks to big for Convairs and Metros. We shall see...
