Interesting! So the HR lady I spoke with said upgrading is strictly based on seniority, but maybe that's not true in all cases. I already have my ATPL so to have all of these 250hr guys ahead of me didn't make sense. So I'll return with some jet time, as I only have multi-turbine time right now and go DEFO, instead of waiting the 5-6 years to upgrade.
HR dunno what they’re talking about. Don’t believe or trust them. Seniority means almost nothing anymore in CX. People on the Airbus got upgraded to FO before 777 guys who joined 2 years ahead of them. Some got command after only 7 years from joining the company while others way ahead on seniority are still waiting after 12 years. The only area where seniority matters anymore is for staff travel.
