Looking on the positive side tho', the salaries and conditions offered are highly unlikely to attract (and as a matter of fact, are driving away) anyone other than - in

These jobs are designed to attract those from Third World countries where the Singapore Dollar still buys you something back home and where financial aspirations are less.
. Thus the (miserable) salaries of THOSE people will now rise above that which they have been receiving.
OTOH, the degradation of the previous salaries has now put a "rocket" under the @sses of guys who have been sitting there for years - fat, dumb, and happy - and has spurred them into moving on to better paid positions.
