BA also flew on from Nairobi to some Indian ocean islands I think Mauritius or Seychelles in the Boeing days as now an A350 route.
As for Mombasa I have never stayed there just landed and driven up the coast. However the last time I was there we flew direct from the Mara via 5 stops in a Cessna Caravan to Ukunda airport for dropping of people for Diani Beach which is south of Mombasa as you will know before the two of us and the two pilots flew up to Moi Int. As I said we stay further North near Malindi at Watamu staying at Hemingways or at Lamu where we hire a house. However with he growth of internal airlines within Kenya we now fly direct to Malindi or Lamu usually directly from Nairobi Wilson though as I said last time we did fly into Moi as the time saved flying direct from the Mara was quicker than stagging through Nairobi.
Rutan 16
There have been issues, and of course the well known bombing of the Paradise Israeli owned hotel and attempted shoot down of the Israeli airliner which led to the suspension of BA flights to Nairobi for a time. However Zanzibar has also had issues recently though on a lesser scale. If you travel a lot for work or indeed pleasure you will always be subject to some issues like this in certain areas of the world but it has not stopped us travelling we just try to e a little careful
