I would has it a guess it’s not because they rip off their pilots, but more likely as an organisation, they are making some strategic decisions and backing it all up with professionalism. I can say this because in my experience, you can’t employ, train and contract out doctors, operate multiple C604 Jets on international operations, an AW139 Thales full motion simulator facility, multiple AW139s doing defense contracts, multiple AW139’s doing Oil and Gas contracts, multiple bases doing MTO operations, multiple lease agreements for aircraft to other MTO operators, being a 145 maintenance org and CMO for the Victorian Police AW139s, and the new CQRescue AW139s, whilst constructing multiple new facilities and then being in a position to front up with another AW139 to cover QGAir reactively.

I mean, seriously, you can’t do that without good people throughout the organisation, and be professional enough to meet or exceed client/contract expectations continuously.

Sure, staff deserve to be paid what they are worth, and in turn be motivated to continue to do the good work they do, but having a dig from the side because you can’t be a part of the organisation or are pissed because you don’t meet the minimums, or think that the EBA ‘talk’ is not just rhetoric to support an agenda, or think that shaking a tin is how a company grows to their size etc, suggests you’re pretty ill-informed or just plain ignorant.

Anyway, I’ll support any organisation that can bring pilots in as co-joes and train them up to be captains, and if they are clever enough to do it without going broke along the way, why wouldn’t you want to work for or with them?

My 2 cents… and yes, I am definitely biased towards Lifeflight and probably more informed than most about what they do, but I’m still fairly pragmatic about the industry as a whole and I take my hat off to them.

Safe skies.
