This is what happens when government funds (taxpayers money) gets given with no accountability. The deal should have been to shore up the SAAB routes with a caveat to plan for the future of regional routes. REX just laughed at the government and gave the finger to the taxpayer and gambled the money on the odds of Virgin not coming back. Now REX has a loss making 737 op, worn out SAABs well past a planned replacement….and a bunch of execs with golden parachutes and a bunch of employees who deserved so much more.
Should the Saab's have been replaced years ago in your opinion? If yes, then with what? Dash 8 aircraft?
