Anybody happen to know if any instructing hours on Microlight aeroplanes can count towards the overall 50 hours for revalidation of FI(A)?
I double checked with a senior CAA Flight Examiner about this recently, who stated as follows:

Instructional time on Microlights cannot be counted towards the 50 hours of flight instruction needed if an FI(A) wishes to revalidate his/her FI certificate by experience.

If anyone wishes to query my answer, he/she can e-mail [email protected] or telephone 0330 022 1972 - who will tell him/her exactly the same thing!

For his/her own Class Rating revalidation, PIC flight time on Annex 1(e) aircraft (i.e. Microlights) can be counted, but the hour of refresher flight training he/she must complete cannot be on Microlights. AMC1 FCL.140.A; FCL.740.A(b)(1)(ii) Recency and revalidation requirements refers.
