The Northrop seat was pretty basic and very low tech. MB initially fitted their advanced and very capable seat to the NASA T38s as a ‘loss leader’. USAF are generally pretty anti MB (conversely, after Viet Nam, USN think MB seats are wonderful) but they lost quite a few T38/F5/crews in low level accidents/incidents and finally ‘saw the light’. USAF eventually fitted the MB seats and the retrofit programme started around 2012. World wide operators also began to see the benefits shortly after. I gather the Aggressor F5 jets came into the fold around 2019.
