a. Sun Tzu would probably advocate the strategy of taking out the enemy king/leader in order to end a war.
b. Clausewitz would (perhaps) identify Putin as a center of gravity (strategic CoG in any case) worth targeting with the aim of ending the war by removing the center of gravity.
From the perspective of an objective analysis (
if indeed Ukraine sent in a few drones to try and take out the head of government) this was an attempt at a decapitation strike that was worth trying if you are Ukraine.
(Yes, it's been about 20 years since the attempted decapitation strikes in Baghdad were being bandied about/discussed, etc)
