Yes, after all third country immigration rules are not an EU power but rather individual to each and every EU member state. And of course having the right to live and work in one EU country does not include to right to live and work in any other EU country. Which makes it extremely unattractive to any EU airline to sponsor a UK or other third country pilot. Btw, even those having the residency rights from the WA are basically stuck in that one country.
Best option is to get a job based in the RoI and apply for a citizenship once that is possible.
