what pilots ? I assume you'll look at categories other than airline pilots since other categories impact airline pilot supply. Climb150 has named one very big factor contributing to the current situation in the USA.

I'm definitely including other categories as in the US the 1500 hour rule will require pilots to work outside an airline meet the minimum requirements.
But the scope of this research project is quite narrow as its a big puzzle indeed.
