Fokker D.XXI reproduction has flown

Fokker D.XXI reproduction '229', built over a period of many years by Jack van Egmond and his family, has made its first flight yesterday. Some photos here: https://www.scramble.nl/military-news/f ... rst-flight

Although a reproduction, the aircraft uses several original D.XXI parts and is powered by a Wright R-1820 that was part of a batch of ten engines bought by the Dutch Government in 1939 as spares for a D.XXI re-engining project (the D.XXI originally used a Bristol Mercury). Because of WWII that never happened and this particular engine is now finally part of a D.XXI, after leaving the factory it only has a 2.5 hour test run logged.
