Basic Class 2 is based upon the Commercial driver standard. Hearing is clinically assessed, and if not satisfactory, then audiometry is completed.

If your hearing was satisfactory, well the GP is taking you for a ride, just like many do daily.

Basic Class 2 is a very hit and miss experience across the board. My son attempted one last year (attractive due to 7 year expiry, instant print out, cheaper) first GP refused to do it, next one shuffled paperwork and made phone calls then said no, so we went to the regular DAME who actually refused to do them as he did not agree with the process. I think it was more he got paid less to do them so wasn’t interested.

Nothing is easy in CASA Medical land.
