Buying the assets of the old company, including it's client database, then contacting each client on that database to establish whether they would be happy to continue receiving communications from the previous business sounds pretty above board to me. Had the database been stolen by an ex employee and handed to the new business without them having bought it as part of the purchase from administrators that would be a whole new scenario. It would seem that corporate lawyers would have been very unlikely to allow the Flybe management to infringe GDPR so early on.
