Algeria, like all of the Maghreb, has been fought over and conquered and colonised and recolonised for centuries: Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs ... even the Spanish were there for a while before the Ottomans kicked them out (hence the Spanish enclaves in Morocco, Ceuta and Melilla). Nobody except maybe the Berbers has any historical right to be Algerian.
