There is a lot of history behind this but from a Chinese viewpoint Taiwan is their territory. It would be a bit like if someone was threatening to invade Hawaii. You can agree or disagree with this but this is the Chinese viewpoint. I'm sure China's prime goal is not to obtain world domination but it is essentially a consequence of the path they are on which is unfortunately a threat to other world powers. In recent history China has been invaded by various foreign powers and consequently their stated goal is to get into a strong position where their military can defend themselves if there is another attempt. The threatening statement from Japan probably hit a raw nerve. The latest brutal invasion by Japan in the early 20th century is a relatively recent event in Chinese history. I'm not saying I disagree or agree with any of this. A better understanding of any bad situation helps to reduce the emotion rhetoric around it. Lets face it, its not on the business plan of media outlet to reduce rhetoric around such issues.
very well said Cool Guy ! .....I despise the Chinese regime for their general philosophy on controlling their citizens, and I would never live in a country like that. But it’s an excellent thing to have balance in this world, you don’t want to have a western world who has complete dominance. History has shown that over the centuries. A powerful China and Russia is actually the best for world peace. Plus, there are people who have different view on life in general, and prefer socialist systems, which has its own perks. Also, when it comes to Japan, they should shut the f...k up for what they did to China in WWII. Actually I Find that China showed a lot of restraint when it comes to these guys given their historical background. As for Taiwan, nothing against them in particular, but it’s a puppet state......invented by the west to piss off China.
