It looks like a classic unstabalized approach: not fully configured, too fast, lands hard possibly bursting tires and runs out of runway. That approach should have been thrown away long before they crossed the fence.
Technical problems with the aircraft may have been a factor, I'd want to know how they got into that situation in the first place and why they didn't go around.
Fear of losing face is all too common in Asia, CRM could be difficult if a senior officer was Captain and the PF. He won't want to have doubt cast on his abilities by being unable to land and a junior co pilot would be very reluctant to question him.
