Converting EASA license to FAA to hour build whilst working over here

Hi everyone,

I'm Irish but I completed my ATPL's in Greece last year under the HCAA, with all that's going on however & not a chance of a job for a few years I reverted back to working on superyachts to save some more cash

I am now on a new boat based out of Florida & as I should be here for the next 2 years or so I want to fly while im here both to hour build & also to keep current.

How exactly do I go about this as iv had conflicting advice?

i have applied online to IACRA to verify my license but as I put ATP I'm told I have to redo this & select 'private' as you cant transfer a commercial license from CAA to FAA? is this correct, &if so then do I just hold a ppl over here? & cant for example start to fly for a small company doing small flights over to the Bahamas (for example)?

Any advice is greatly appreciated for any and all that have gone before me

Davy
