Uh, yes? In about a hundred percent of situations, you're trimmed for 1G, and in a steep spiral are probably adding a few more with your hand, with or without realizing. Being overwhelmed and panicked, I wouldn't trust a thought like "relax the back pressure" to actually accomplish anything if the person's hand is locked back on the stick without realizing. It might help for a conscious thought to break through with a more definite impetus to action like "push" (actually move the controls forward) for anything to happen. Plus, if you're upside down, it will minimize the altitude and attitude loss, and airspeed gain that are quickly happening and might box you into a corner over the next few seconds while you're completing the roll to upright.
