If I'm not wrong, the 3 years requirement is already removed from FCL.

After how long exactly will I have problems with my EASA ATPL if I don't renew my IR ?
According to FCL.625 (e) as long as your ICAO type rating with IR is valid, you need only a proficiency check to renew EASA IR.
