Given the recent nasty business on this thread I choose my words carefully. Some people were suspicious of how long the ambition for a management post had been present and felt that there was conflict of interest between being on the PC and harbouring aspirations to climb the greasy pole.
BALPA is expensive to belong to and the fight in easy is that if more joined they'd sort things out. On the other side, you could say show us what you can do and I'll pay to join. When they were voted in, a lot was made of they'd fight the corner for us all including non members but that doesn't happen.
Issues like the one above don't help there case. Bottom line is though that management control the PC and pull there strings (IMHO). Sorry if that is hard to swallow for some but the PC dances to RW's tune - not the other way around.
