What do you expect to hear from ATC if you're flying VFR and is about to enter class D or C airspace?
I've heard a lot of different opinions on the matter:
- We make initial call, get runway in use and QNH, then we can enter without further.
- We make initial call, get runway in use and QNH and "enter the TMA or CTR" but without using the word "cleared", then we can enter.
- We make initial call, get runway in use and QNH and "cleared to enter/destination....." as is required in a standard clearance, then we can enter.
And this is from neighbouring countries.... making at least VFR cross boundaries a bit tricky if you haven't talked to people who has been there.
The fun thing is, this entire conversation between ATC and N731NR reminded me of that... (he is IFR though, so there's nothing to raffle about)
