Don't worry I absolutely agree - but after the EBA9 documents that went out there at the time, I'll never trust an AIPA document blindly again. Thanks for that one, Nathan.

You do realise everything you have written there is completely irrelevant when weighing a business case to compete on a route against US carriers??

For the most part the costs for each airline are equal; aircraft, fuel, airways charges, but one area where you can really do better than your direct competitor is staff costs. Not the cost of staff over the last century, not from lost pension plans dating back 2 decades but from the what it will cost you to fly the route tomorrow.

So Telfer, while I have the utmost sympathy for the US pilots who went through that period, it is utterly irrelevant to this discussion.
I'm almost certain I read somewhere that QF has the second most office staff per aircraft in the world, behind BA.
