Nothing changes. A new set of newbies suspend disbelief in order to ignore advice from the seasoned (that is, stuck [to answer your question flyingvesky] ) EK pilots. There are hundreds of genuine, realistic, emotion-removed posts on here that paint EK life exactly as it is. But you newbies keep ignoring them and mocking the experienced posters.

I still have colleagues flying there, and in the 2 years since I've left the only thing to improve slightly is the flying hours over the last 3-4 months. But as they acknowledge that isn't due to EK listening and reducing the flying, it's due to market forces and EK kidding themselves about their expansion, with troubled times occurring right now so the flying program has dropped. Everything else to do with EK and living in Dubai has worsened.

But still you line up to go there. Unless you have lost your job, or your company is about to go broke, you have no need to even look at EK. And even then there are probably better options. Stand in front of the mirror and slap yourself repeatedly and hard, while chanting "I will not succumb to 'Shiny Jet Syndrome' - it is a life destroyer!"

The grass isn't greener - there is no bloody grass! (And if there is, it's only there due to the human-faeces-riddled water pumped on to it in order to create the illusion that something grows in the Middle East. Pretty apt imagery for the entire place!)
Hypocrisy in its greatest form.

You are actually mocking newbies for joining or wanting to join whilst you point out that newbies mock the experienced players. Personally, I have never mocked anyone on these EK forums as I am trying to decipher what the motivation behind some of these posts could be.

I’m sure you can understand that we are all adults, we are all pilots and we are all capable of making our own decisions for better or for worse.

I’m sure many will look at your post and be nodding their heads and clapping from the sideline about how accurate it is but for those of us who have a genuine interest in joining EK for whatever reason that may be, your post doesn’t come across as genuine when it is filled with the amount of sarcasm and dribble you just wrote about.

You spent 7 years there, I’m sure your provident fund after 7 years would allow you to move on easier than others and that is exactly what my goal is. You are entitled to your opinion as you’ve lived the experience there but maybe just trying to remember what you felt like before you arrived there over 9 years ago and why you applied in the first place would go a long way to understanding why people are still applying.
