Being legal doesn't mean it's safe. When that single fan stops, one really needs to see, where to put the a/c down, with any degree of safety. Difficult on a pitch black night!

Certain routes in Africa for example, the minimum legal fuel requirements dont always give you enough fuel, considering alternates, communication, navaids or lack of etc, etc. Especially operating a heavy a/c. Less options of course. "The only time you have too much fuel on board is when you are on fire". Dont the operators just love that. 🤣
