Correct. FOs net salary is a tad more than 5k on average over 12 months, and roughly 6k as an SFO, depending a bit on your tax deductions, but not much variance. Plus some kind of private pension, on top of the state one. The last few years the average was between 600 and 650 hours flown, but many sectors. Captains fly a bit more.
It takes 2 years to become SFO in Italy, even if you have 20k hours, you cannot join straight on that rank.

Taxation would be difficult to explain in detail, but CaptainProp gives a good idea.
