By going on strike you are playing into WW's hands.
Your work to rule has been causing him massive problems, requiring numerous a/c hire-ins at great expense. You are winning. This is why he has chosen to provoke you by withdrawing your Staff Travel rights at short notice. He wants to bring this to a head as quickly as possible because he's on a loser and he knows it.
Unlike anyone with guts and integrity he will never call your union leaders and ask for a meeting to cut a deal. That would be a loss of face for dear Willy, and he would have to negotiate from a position of weakness...which he hates to do.
My guess is that he hopes the strike will happen, the Labour Court will step in and save his ass by giving him a way out that doesn't involve a humiliating climbdown. Lets face it, he can't lose with the Labour Court...their usual answer to every problem is 50/50...so he walks away with half of what he wanted and his arrogance still intact.
You'd be better off ignoring his provocations and continuing to squeeze on your work to rule. Stick it to the fecker.
My last advice is that if you
must strike...don't let the Labour Court shaft you and dig Willy out of his deep hole..be prepared to REJECT the finding if it doesn't suit you.
