I could not agree more with your comment on a strike vote. I believe it will be overwhelming. As you say, leave the date open (convenient that the holidays are approaching) and the bookings will certainly begin to drastically tail off. We must not let the same soft, defeatist malaise that has led us to this sorry place happen again.
Fight for your careers, but more importantly, fight for your colleagues, friends and families. Who here isn't completely sick of seeing only the management benefit? Remember, every profit sharing bonus not paid, every 13th month not paid, every normal pay raise not paid is due to our management making those choices. They simply funnel the money saved into their own pockets. If we just for once stood strong together, we could re-establish the value of a Cathay Pacific pilot back where it rightfully belongs, at the top. We were there once for a reason, and it has mainly been our own failings that have led us to the bottom.
Time to turn that around, and that can only be done by the collective strength, commitment and mutual support of one another. Now is that time.
