Without turning this into (yet another) Brexit thread, inept as the government (in fact all our current crop of politicians) is, they are not, I believe, on the whole lemmings. Only the most extreme of extremists would want such a doomsday scenario to happen, and they aren't the majority of either wing of the argument. Same I believe goes for the EU Commission, and the member states.
Other issues could go pear shaped, I don't see this one going that way however red the red lines are, on either side.
