If you have a capable aircraft 550 meters of bumpy grass is fine.
If you live on the farm and can fly your aircraft from your own field it is great.
At the moment myself and three other local pilots have to travel by car to someone elses field to fly.
Two hours in a car on the road to go flying for an hour! This may be in a National Park but it is also an Area of Intense Aerial Activity.
The RAF, pipeline, electicity, lines hellicopters and Air Ambulance all use this area. A couple of light aircraft do not make much difference.
This will not be a regional airport, just a grass field with less than 250 movements per year.
From here I can fly to other airfields and support them by purchasing fuel and food.
Facilities - on site Guest House, Walking routes in Dalby Forest, Mountain Bike routes in Dalby Forest, Bike Hire, Bird Watching. Tea, Coffee biscuits. What more do you want?
Airfields are closing down new airfields are nearly impossible to open.
How do we inspire future pilots if they never see an aircraft that they may be able to fly even if they do not become professional pilots.
